Summary:
This presentation examines suicide prevention & treatment through the lens of Adlerian psychology, emphasizing the critical role of belonging & significance in fostering mental well-being & The Hope Institute’s unique intervention model. It explores the three core illusions underlying suicidal ideation—lack of self-worth, underestimating ability to cope with psychological pain, and a sense of insignificance or not belonging which leads to escapism. It integrates the mind-body connection, by addressing the interconnected dimensions of emotional, physiological, and social health, highlighting the importance of emotion regulation, nervous system regulation, and nurturing warm relationships to build resilience and support recovery.
