Tactical Recovery

Our Tactical Recovery program helps our Military, Veterans, and First Responders recover from the pain, struggle, and damage that comes from fighting substance use disorders.

Our clinicians earn certification by completing PsychArmor courses about military culture and Veteran-specific topics so they can effectively engage and support active-duty Military Service Members, Veterans, First Responders, and their families. Our therapeutic oversight is provided by trained Veterans.

Assessments can be made via phone along with same-day admission. We can also verify insurance benefits any time. We also accept pregnant women up to 32 weeks with approval from our Medical Director.

Services include:

Specialized Treatment for Veterans

Veterans face an array of mental health challenges when returning to civilian life. Combat exposure, loss of comrades, and prolonged periods of high alert can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. The Tactical Recovery program at Canyon Vista recognizes these specific stressors and provides targeted therapies that help veterans process trauma, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and regain a sense of purpose. The treatment modalities used include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and group therapy sessions that create a peer support network.

Our programming options include:

Bridge Care

When there isn’t current availability at a VA facility, but a veteran needs immediate help, our Bridge Care program can be the answer. With proper authorization, veterans can start receiving care at our Tactical Recovery program locations until services can be secured at a VA facility. This bridge can support veterans when they need help the most, and start them on the road to recovery sooner.

Offered at all Tactical Recovery locations, Bridge Care offers:

  • A temporary supportive environment where veterans can remain safe and sober
  • A veteran-centric approach offering trauma-informed care to include a variety of evidence-based practices, proven to be effective in treating the veteran population
  • Medically monitored withdrawal management
  • Collaborative coordination with VA Medical Centers to ensure a safe bed-to-bed transfer
  • A staff of licensed clinicians and medical professionals
  • Additional comprehensive levels of care provided as necessary, including residential treatment and outpatient services

Transitioning Back to Daily Life

In addition to mental health treatment, veterans may also need help reintegrating into civilian life, finding a job, or strengthening family relationships. Tactical Recovery at Canyon Vista offers life skills training and counseling services to address these issues, ensuring that the healing process extends beyond treatment and into everyday life.

The transition from a structured treatment program back to daily life can be challenging, especially for veterans and first responders who are used to high-pressure environments. Tactical Recovery at Canyon Vista provides ongoing support through aftercare planning, sober living arrangements, and outpatient services that ensure participants continue to receive the care they need as they re-enter their communities.
