Riverview Park

The combination water park and family entertainment center features an arcade, three miniature golf courses, a go-kart track, laser tag, bumper boats, and bumper cars. Open only in the summer, Sunsplash features waterslides, a wave pool, an activity pool, and a lazy river. There are 29 water-based attractions, a toddler area with a splash pad, and water slides perfect for tweens.

Apache Trail & Superstition Wilderness Area

Spend the day driving the scenic route that follows the Apache Trail. As you travel the path of Native Americans and prospectors from the late 1800s through the Superstition Wilderness Area and Tonto National Forest, you will see spectacular views of the Superstition Mountains. As you travel the Apache Trail, be sure to make the following stops: 

  • Goldfield Ghost Town: Once a booming town, this ghost town has unique shops and a general store. Tour the reconstructed gold mine, shop in the general store, or pan for gold. They offer helicopter and jeep tours of the area.  
  • The Superstition Mountain Lost Dutchman Museum: The museum’s focus is the Old West, with exhibits featuring the Apache, the Native American people of the region; early western settlers and how they lived; western legends of media and film; local industry; and local geology. 
  • Dolly Steamboat on Canyon Lake: Located in the Tonto National Forest, Canyon Lake offers a Twilight Dinner Cruise and a Nature Cruise of the inner waterways on the Dolly Steamboat.
  • Tortilla Flat: Tortilla Flat is an authentic stagecoach stop in the Superstition Mountain Wilderness. Enjoy a meal, then visit the Old-Fashioned Ice Cream-Candy store.  
Visit the Arizona Museum of Natural History

Located in the heart of downtown Mesa, the Arizona Museum of Natural History provides visitors with exhibits and displays of ancient civilizations, dinosaurs, cosmic history, and time travel. There are many hands-on activities for all ages. The 80,000-square-foot museum houses almost 60,000 objects and specimens, including an American mastodon, a Columbian mammoth, and a one-toed Hagerman Horse.
